So the range last week was small and we were only allowed to hit irons which is very typical in Asia... something that I've gotten very accustomed to. At the bottom of the sign it says the "fine" amount if you get caught hitting any woods. Notice it says PGM players (Professional Golfers of Malaysia) would receive a 100 RM fine (22 US Dollars) and ADT players would receive a "fine" of 300 US Dollars. I thought this was funny so I thought I would share... if that was a sign on a driver range in the US it would be all over the news... (racial prejudice, equal rights, blah blah blah.) sorry didn't mean to get political there. It was a disappointing event last week in Malaysia missing the cut with rounds of 73, 73 (+2). I showed signs of really good play making 8 birdies over the course of the 2 rounds but simply couldn't avoid the mistakes. I feel like my game is close to all coming together. For now, it's back to the drawing board!

It was a little disappointing not getting into this week's Asian Tour Event the Bangladesh Open as I ended up being the first reserve. I really am getting the itch to get back at it in competition as I feel extremely confident in the current state of my game. However, I realize it is a long year and if I keep doing the right things and improving I will reach my goals for 2017. I have had some down time as of late; so I have had plenty of time to think about what exactly my goals are. I usually keep these things to myself; however, writing them in this blog is going to remind me/keep my mind on track every time I open this page.
First off, I want to be inside the top 500 in the Official World Golf Rankings by the year's end. This would open up some opportunities and ultimately mean I played consistent and toward a higher level I am striving to reach. Second, I want to finish inside the top 5 on the Asian Development Tour's Order of Merit which would give me status on the Asian Tour for 2018. That's it for now. Onwards and upwards! Josh |
