There were a lot of positives to take from this past week In Taiwan. I finished the tournament tied 29th with rounds of 67, 72, 75, 73 (-1). With windy conditions on the weekend, scores were high and the golf course played extremely difficult. Although I made a couple of double bogeys on the weekend; 1 was due to a lost ball right off the fairway, I was pleased with how I drove the ball in such windy conditions. I relied on a knock down low flighted drive to be able to control the ball in the wind. For anyone that struggles playing in the wind, I think it's an efficient way to hit fairways and a technique worth practicing. I like to tee it up a little lower than normal, choke up an inch or two, and swing easy. It helps me keep spin off the ball, to limit the effect of the wind and the low ball flight chases down the fairway. It is a shot I will look to hit more often on tight holes when hitting the fairway is a premium.
Life away from the golf course in Taiwan is always an experience, especially when it comes to finding places to eat. The Google Translate app saved us a few times as some restaurants only had menus' in Mandarin. This app is awesome; take a picture of the menu, then click on each word and it provides the English Translation. What would we do without technology?
I have the next two weeks off before heading back to Taiwan October 12th for an event on the Taiwan PGA.
Cheers,
Josh
